A modular data center - ready in the snap of a finger - Tuesday, 22.07.2025

Data centers are the backbone of our digital world:

AI, cloud services, streaming, stable internet connections and the associated flood of data are creating a constantly growing need for powerful and flexible data centers. However, building this infrastructure presents operators with a number of challenges:

  • Long construction times
  • High space requirements
  • Rising energy costs
  • Complex integrations

Hurdles that can be overcome with a modular and space-saving solution. This is exactly where not only the concept of HOPPECKE's UPS batteries comes in, but also that of our partner Leadership Datacenter GmbH (LDC).

The engineering and construction services provider has relied on sustainable data centers and therefore also on HOPPECKE's grid | Xtreme VR ever since LDC was founded. This also applies to its modular data center:

"Data centers shouldn't take years — they should be scalable, reliable, and ready in no time. But speed alone is not enough. In all our data center solutions, we set the highest standards when it comes to the use of quality products — because only with reliable, proven technology can we deliver secure and future-ready infrastructure. With HOPPECKE, we have a partner that combines technological excellence with shared values like sustainability, security, and standardization. Together, we deliver next-generation digital infrastructure — as fast as a finger snap." - Holger Zultner, Managing Director at Leadership Datacenter:

With modular concepts such as those from LDC and innovative batteries, data centers can be scaled flexibly - from smaller 80 kW systems to multi-megawatt solutions. Modularity enables a significant reduction in construction time and offers the flexibility to react quickly to new requirements. In addition, all integrated systems meet high standards from the outset and have been carefully selected with quality, reliability and safety in mind. This also applies to the grid | Xtreme VR batteries.

Numerous satisfied customers

Already numerous projects have been successfully executed with grid | Xtreme VR batteries for the implementation of the data center. The output ranged from 80kw up to to six megawatts.

Sustainability as a decisive factor

The use of grid | Xtreme VR gives data center operators a considerable advantage over standard UPS-solutions: the batteries are made of lead, a raw material that is 99.99% recyclable at HOPPECKE and can therefore be returned to the economic cycle an infinite number of times. HOPPECKE's green philosophy is also confirmed by the platinum medal the battery manufacturer recently received from EcoVadis, which emphasises the company's great efforts in the area of sustainability.

In addition to sustainability, the grid | Xtreme offers two other decisive arguments:

‘It is characterised by TCO advantages thanks to significant optimization of space consumption and 50% longer service life. These features, combined with LDC's modular data center conecpt, make the solution a real game changer. ’, explains Marcel Birkhölzer, Key Account Manager at HOPPECKE.

The advantages of the modular solution with grid | Xtreme VR batteries at a glance:

  • Fast construction times: The data center can be implemented very fast.
  • Scalability: From 80 kW to multi-megawatt solutions, different scales are possible.
  • Space-saving: Compact batteries + high performance? grid | Xtreme VR makes it possible and saves around 20% space compared to conventional solutions.
  • Sustainable: Double the service life and use of sustainable resources thanks to the use of up to 99.99% recyclable lead.
  • Easy integration: The data center includes all necessary components such as UPS, control cabinets, batteries and cooling.
